I'd get a PCM from a ACR or RT those go like 130mph, how much faster do you need to go? if you need to go faster as somebody suggested disconnect the speedometer connector off of your transmission and use a laptop with microsoft GPS to figure out your top speed.

The Neon is strong enough to handle speeds above 130mph, just as long as your tires and struts are good you shouldn't have a problem.

I think its just totally sensless to build your Neon up and finally think "shouldI sell it?" Doug I respect you alot and you've become my friend so I feel I can say this, thats totally f u c k in retarded to want to sell your Neon after putting all that work into it and to finally think about the ramifications after you did the work.

If you want to go 160mph steal your Moms HemiCharger.

Quality parts didn't matter to me, I spent $100 to put my turbo on my $150 Neon and even if I wouldn't have lucked out on parts $500 I could have turbo'ed my car for. You spent $3000 on a Hahn set up with the same effects I enjoy for $100, I think your going out of your way to live outside your means, what I'm getting at is you made the Neon a money pit when you didn't have to. I could pimp my fkn Neon damn good for the$3000 you stuck in the Hahn kit. I couldhave a totallybuilt turboengine,New Hood, Rims,Stereo System,Performance Axles and toughen up my transmission and in the end have a 12 second performer if not more.

Also your a fkn idiot if it takes you more than $1500 to turbo proof that engine. You only need to balance the crank rods and pistons for like $130 at Car Quest, Spend $530 on pistons another $400 on Rods and $200 on a TurboCam, then you can juice it to 25psi all day long.

well now...im gonna personally take offense to that statement....
cost me $800 for eagle rods, JE pistons, and JE pistons rings...$1200 to bore/hone, balance the block, new bearings and gaskets, $450 for crane #14 cams, $100 for crane valve springs, and $150 for BC titanium valve spring retainers...not including the little stuff.....

i would personally love to see you do everything you listed, "turbo proof" your engine, and make the car 12 seconds or faster for under $3k

He's allready got the turbo thats the most expensive part next to the Pistons and Rods which are $509 for the Pistons and $399 for the rods through Jegs right now. I'm not sure if he has a Machine shop that is cheap like Car Quest but they will balance bore and hone for under $300 and as for gaskets and bearings and rings theres a kit on Ebay for $150 with everything you need. I even gave leeway for a $200 cam I'll revise this to $2,000 on the EngineAnd as for the rest of the money if I were on a $3000 budget I'd buy slicks plus the Phantom Grip. Once he's got that stuff I don't think its unreasonable to pipe 20psi or more into that motor. SRT-4 does a 14.2 second quarter mile on 7psi and street tires and makes 225hp. The First Gen is lighter too.

Hahn claims a stock 2.0 SOHC with a 7psi Turbo kit will make 215-225hp and up to 250hp with an intercooler and running 8psi on a STOCK MOTOR! weather it will last long thats depends. once you have your built motorCrack that turbo up to about 15psi with that built turbo motorand You'd probably see a 12second quarter miles pretty easily with slicks and the Phantom Grip.

I don't see $3000 let alone $5,000 going into this engine just to reach 12'sand if you did dump that much in you made a wrong turn somewhere or better be doing 11's.

Spud you bought your stuff last year, the markets have dropped a bit since then.

the thing that makes it $5000 is all new supension stuff to go along so that i bullet proof the whole car so i could do it for about $3000 but i will wait till i have $5000....and im doing good some neons have 50k+ invested

like i said i was just scared i think im going to like it...if spud says it can take a wrx i might have a chance...i think i will wait till i have money for my own wrxwhy sell my baby for a older subie that i could probably take

btwcould get the boreing done for $40 my mentor knows a guy at napa i dont know if that includes honeing

though you forgot about all this crap in your $3000 budget....

there werent very many cars around here that could touch my car in the 259 miles i drove it....including a corvette Z06, many srt4's, 1 evo, and a few cop cars.....but that was with 15psi.....i couldnthardley keep it on the road with 20psi....

another difference with the hahn turbo kit is that the 215-225hp is at the crank....last i checked atleast....

Well, me personaly i like saying my car is "just a neon" like spud saying about taking vettes, and wrx, and even an evo out, that says alot, NO they r not just a neon if u can build the hell out of them and spend only 20k and take out a 60k car, it is all about the driver and the car..... and yeah the neons r not the most popular car.... but for the money i have put into mine, with exterior and interior mods, along with alot of engine work i am running in the 13s, not bad for a stock block..... the end of the winter it is going to be a 2.4 stroker engine, but that is besides my point...........

but i would much rather have my neon that a wrx, (excluding the bug eye, i like them alot) but u can not touch one for less than twelve, and would be slower than my neon....

3000 dollar budget????? with the stuff listed i do not think so..... but i have 3k in my turbo setup, and 1k in my head alone, but when i built them both i built them right, and when i go to upgrade i really do not have to upgrade much more after i did that work.... the head is bullet proof, and i will not have to touch that head for a while....... the block run about 4k, along with my intake manifold is another 400,ext ext.... but i am hoping to get into the 350-400 whp range....(but we will see) i will have very close to spuds dollar amountwhen i am all said and done with everything...... (not including exterior and interiormods)

i dont know i why i even thought about selling it it kicks *** onece you get it working perfect...ps i am going to post a new post later i have two problems but they are with the boost gausge and controller so it's not a big deal

das...there would be to much modding for that going from a 98 to a 95...to much work im fine with the speed limiter...as i said before all this if i cant beat you by the time i reach 60mph f-it

slash...i forgot about that atleast thats two neons now i feel better.

i think the only reason i would want a wrx is for the awd power...and i love the look of the old 2drs...also i cant wait to drop the next 5k into it for the rebuild it should be fun
