talk to a machinest. they have all the resources and information available to them right on hand. i think you will have to go with less than 30grand, but im sure you could shave some material off. let us know what they say and how it goes, cause thats the kinda stuff that we all want to know!

RE: i need help{shaving of a head}
sohc will be ok
dohc will not be ok
sohc with dohc pistons big no no
dohc with sohc pistions ok

another interesting fact...

Did you know if you install 8.8-1 compression pistons you engine becomes a non-interface engine... you can snap timing belts all day long... lol

RE: i need help{shaving of a head}
you can safely take .040 off the head if its a stock pistons in the motor it was designed for so if you dohc pistons with a dohc head or sohc pistion with a sohc head you will be fine.

Just remember the more you shave the bigger the boomif you timing belt lets loose... So make sure you use get a new timing belt when you do this along with water pump and tentioner.

but seriously what would the point be? to raise ur compression? you can do that just by buying the right pistons.

oh and lets not forget that when you shave the head you retard the timing. so ur gonna have to find a way to compensate for that, like adjustable cam gears. Old school train of thought was to shave the head to increase compression, but back then it was way harder to get custom pistons. i think you would be better off just getting thehigh comp.pistons.
