wiring harness
how hard is it to pull a wiring harness????!1/? im starting my 2.4 swap some time next week... is the engine bay wiring and the wiring that goes in to the car all one piece meaning i have to tear up the whole dash? any help pleeeZ?
why would you want to do that, rip it all the way back to the dash??? or are you the one that has a 95 and wants to switch the wiring harness over to a 96+ harness???
there is an easy way of doing it by removing all the pins out of the 95 connector by taking a pen or nail and pushing them out after you take the top cap off the 95 connector then use the wiring diagrams to know where topush them into the black connector on the 96+ wiring harnes plug...Then you dont have to deal with what i delt with... It took me 3 days to swap everything out of my 95 and swap it to 96+ and i was woking hard...
If you dont mind me asking....
what all parts did you using to do the 2.4 swap i want to make sure you have everything before you start... and then dont have a car to drive...

all i need now is just the ecu and the wiring btw i have thats not me with the 95 mines a 96... i have the motor, passanger side motor mount bracket, accel 24 injectors with pigtails, 2.o dohc intake mani, headers for the2.o, 2.o exhaust cam, im planning on ordering the UD pulley this coming paycheck im not sure if its a must but ill get it any ways just for an extra 5-10hp ya know, any thing else im missing? im askin bout the wiring harness because i heard u need the wiring harness of a dohc and i have sohc in there right now also does the wiring have to be off a 96 or just the ecu?
you dont need to rip the cabin harness out you just need the engine wiring harness. The right plug on your pcm is fine it is what goes into your cabin was the same 96+ on all dohc and sohc carsjust need the engine wiring harness.. thats it... you are missing quite a bit... heres the list....

ok now that u mention it i do have a few ?s i have almost everything on the list... ok first off egr block off kit where do i get and why is it necessary or just performance option? PT water intlet, the DOHC neon wont work? i just finished the 5spd swap and got a new clutch please dont tell me its different
fuel rail off a stratus or do neon? im elimintaing the p/s do i still need the brackets?i have all the gaskets already... and the UD pulley why is it necessary? haha thanks for the help man im just really eager about the swap i just wanna be prepared for any obstacle ya herd lol

ok the reason you need the egr block off kit is becuase your going to be using the 2.0 intake manifold witch is shaped compleatly different and neither the 2.0 or 2.4 egr system will work period on the swap....
and the reason you need the underdrive pully for a 2.0 is becuase the stratus has a 6 groove section on the outside and then a 4 groove section on the inside the 2.0 has a v-groove outside and a 4 groove behind it... simply wont work... plus it is a huge pully that will run rediculusly close to the fender well...
ok the pt waterneck is strictly otional however is a good idea due to the PT water inlet pipe for the waterpump, and the DOHC heater hard lines. With the PT inlet, you just need to bend the hardline to the waterpump toward the block a few degrees to get it to line up perfect, and not kink the short rubber hose. The Stratus inlet is a bear, and will make the rubber line rub up under the intake manifold until it leaks.
if you have a new clutch you will be fine hopefully the stratus and you neon have the same type or you will add about 2 hours to the job... sorry...
2.0 neon dohc fuel rail... use it... bigger bore then stratus and since you are using 24lbs injectors it helps...expecually down the road when you upgrade...
since your getting rid of your ps the brackets are not needed but can be sold easyly to 2.4 swap guys who modify them...
I know you said earlyer that you were going to be using the 2.0 exuast cam... why arnt you doing both??? and you are aware of the nipple cutting and rotation deal that you must do right???
I have a very well detailed exact instructions that i can pm you if you like that will take you threw pulling your motor and installing the 2.4...
and since you dident ask about the pt alternator brackets im going to assume you know why youNEEDthem if you need part numbers just ask...
keep asking questions...

I just found a 95 two door for 150 dollars??? it has a dohc in it already but it is knocking...would this be a good car to do a 2.4 swap in??? car is pritty solid.....
2.4 swap alternator bracket part numbers
The upper bracket used for adjustment is Stamped Steel and says 2.4L TURBO on it. PN is 4891533-AA and the list price is $11.39
The lower rotating bracket is Cast Aluminum. PN is 4668445-AA and list price is $42.72
the reason you have to use it is becuase the stratus alternator is up on the front of the block you need it in back... the pt bracket moves it in back...
I know this sounds painfull but you have to cut the nipple off...lol and then rotate the cam magnet 90*
let me look into the intake cam i sware you swap both but let me look into it your the second person that has pulled the same info on me today...
dtjackten any 1st gen neon deserves a 2.4... lol
