Default camshaft questions

ok well im buyin a new cam and id like ot ask a few questions b4 in go spending money on sumthing that will not work for me agian ...as a few of you might kno already i race on a 1/3 mile track its kinda small and last year i went ahead and bought the serious street race COMP cam for my car ..the problem with that was that i never reached high enof rpms to reap any benifits from it ...at about the flag stand the cam would kick in and i smoke ppl but by the time it did it was time to leave off for the turn ...i need a cam that will be there when im runnin lower rpms coming outta the turns..ive lookd at the crane 12, 10, and 14 ..are any of these ideal for wat i wanna do ........the engine is modified some ....the main thing is that the head is ported and polished and crane springs and retainers are on the way..its bored 30 over ..with light weight internals...sry for the big long message

really none of the crane cams are manufactured for extreme low end torque, if you want a crane - get the crane 180-0016, it'll help you the most for what you have

your running DOHC right???

What size exhaust are you running becuase non of the cams are going to run well without at least a 2.5' exhaust... and a good cai... I would p&p your intake manifold and get a crane 12... you have to appear stock right??? a crane 16 is going to give you a loop in your exuast giving away the cam...

thats a dohc with like crane 20's in it... if your sohc you can only fit a crane 14 in it. and its not that bad unless your straight pipe. but the crane 14 likes to breath alot so cai and straight threw muffler is perfered...

i race on a 1/3 mile track down south. Im also lookingfor the right kinda cam to run this coming year. What kinda RPM's are you runnin if you say the serious street race COMP didnt kick in until the flag stand? I'm lookin for a cam that is not noticeable in the sound cuz i to have to be "stock."

i also have to be stock but there are ways around that .....u have to find the loop holes like wat do u consider stock...we did away with the power steering and alt ..u dont need it ..just make sure to add a good charge to ur battery b4 ur race ..i have a few other tricks but not gonna reveal them on here ...never kno whos reading this stuff maybe the ppl i race agianst ...drop me a P M ....and as far as the cam goes ..the ppl at crane and the ppl that build my motors said the crane 12 is perfect for wat i want to do ...the only thing is you have to buy crane springs and retainers to run the cam they were $411 alone and the cam was another $250 or sumthing like that..
