i have a 99 dodge neon, completely stock about to go under the knife real soon

BUT im having trouble the service engine soon is always on...bad catyltic converter...or something im not to worried about...

but as of lately the car has been acting bad, in the morning if i dont let it warm up it sputters like its going to die, and even after its warmed up it sputters every now and then in town, espescially when im going slightly uphill like an onramp it sputters REAL bad, rpm meter gets all crazy and the service engine soon light blinks...i changed the air filter and spark plugs thinking maybe that was the problem but no luck and i really dont want to take it seeing as i think i can fix the problem myself...

help please

 

well your problem is your catyltic converter.... listen to your car... the thing is probally cloged to hell and boging down on you... what you described is exactly what a bad cat does to your car...

 

Very true. the material in then come loose, go sideways, and will block your flow at times. Or just all together get clogged with crap.I paid $160 at my local midas for a new universal cat, put the cat on, make my exhaust hook to my turbo, and an oil change. Just to give you an idea.

 

This happened to my 96 neon. Gutted the cat and also purchased a 2.5" universal cat from summitt racing for $60 shipped.
