Default Need Help Car running rough

I have a 95 Dodge Neon Hi-Line SOHC it was running rough so I changed the spark plugs and put in some Champion copper plugs with a .45 gap.
When I changed the plugs I found oil in the number 4 spark plug well so about 2 weeks later I replaced the o rings and gasket this helped the rough running a bit at first but it was still running rough so today I went out and changed the plugs again and this time I out in NGK G-Power platinum tip plugs with a .40 gap. The car started fine ran great while cold but once it heated up it started running rough again and now I do not know why. Is it because the gap is too small? I checked the spark wires and they are good can anyone help?

u sorta got me on this one ...the first place id start is pulling the injectors off one by on while the car is runnin and see if u have a dead cylinder ...simple enof to do ...jsut start the car and if its running rough unplug one injector at a time ..the engine should die alil bit and sorta catch back up but not totally with every plug u pull off ..after u pull it off and it dies alil plug it back in and move to the next one...my gess is if you had oil in the #4 cylinder thats where ur problem lies ....possibly rings...if u are gettin oil in the cylinder then that cylinder wouldnt be firing properly and would make the engine shake ..last year i had a bad injector that decided to take a dump in the middle of a race and the engine shook so bad i broke the front motor mount...well go with that for now .....maybe spud or das has some ideas

seriously take the damn ngk plugs out.... I know there good on hondas but they are not good on neons... the coppers are your best coice period unless your running boost... now on to your problem...

To clear up what dirt is telling you to do is to take the electrical connector off the top of the injector, no offence dirt but to a nebee it could be taken as take the whole fuel injector out...

Start off by doing what dirt told you to do it will give you a good idea what cylinder is having the problem... after that I would look into having a leak down test and or a compression test done to see if your problems lay with the rings... the oil could be from a oil control ring...

try that and post your results...

These fkrs will run on any plug u throw in em allthough champions are probably the best for the Neon Engineand yes I use Champions, the problem is probably plugwires, I'd deal with the spark plug wires before going in debtswapping a millionplugs its not like its a snowmobile 2 cycle engine where plugs foul easy and you need to keep new ones handy or your fkd, steal some plugwiresoff a car in the junk yard and try it if you'd rather not pay $20. Also could be cam sensor if its running rough. I've had 2 bad o2 sensors when I first got my Neon and not once did they make the car run like ****, just used alot of gas till i changed them.

I'd leave the injectors alone for now personally and just try wire swapping. If nothing else buy the plug wires put em on then if its not the problem then take em back. I would point to the weakest links first which are plug wires, mine ran like *** till I put new ones on. Gap on the Neon's plugsis supposed to be .35 (is what is says under my hood), thats what I'm using now and it runs great. I think the last thing to go wrong would be injectors, I'd look at the ignition system and cam sensor.

Wal Mart sells an OBD-1 and OBD-2 scanner for $40 and yes you can take it back if you don't like it or you can have Auto Zone check it for free and see if any codes come up.
