Default DOHC to SOHC Alt. Swap. Possible?

I've got a '97 DOHC and a '97 SOHC. Since they both need new alternators..

1: I am assuming the Neon Alternators can be rebuilt for cheaper than buying new. Is this correct???

2: Since I don't want to take my DOHC out of service, can I pull my SOHC Alt., have it rebuilt and swap it into the DOHC and vise versa??

Thanks!!

Ok, well first off, why don't you just fix the alternators for the cars, instead of swapping them?

New alternators are not that expensive and rebuilding them can be a pain if you aren't experienced.

Same Block and mounting hardware for the SOHC and DOHC plus they run the same accessories in the same car, no reason they would be different.
