Default Engine Surging

My 1995 Dodge Neon SOHC surges when the car is driven on longer than normal trips. My mom usually drives the car 11 miles to the train station, then takes the train into St.Louis. But when she drives it for longer than that the CEL comes on and the engine starts surging. The weird thing is, it happens when the weather is warmer out. During the winter, the car ran fine with longer trips but since its getting warmer out, the car is acting up again. I dont know what is up with it, so I am looking for some ideas about what could be the cause.

This car comes with OBD2 though. Can you do the "key dance" with obd2 also?

kinda sounds like the o2 sensor

porcedure for key dance

"To read any codes on your neon, put the key in the ignition and cycle it to ACC on-off-on-off-on within 5 seconds. As the CEL flashes, count the number of flashes. This represents the code. An example would be flash-flash-flash-flash, pause, flash-flash-flash, which would be a Code 43, single or multiple cylinder misfire. A list of codes can be found HERE or HERE. "

Check the downstream O2 first, it's a long term trim. Immediate mixture changes are done with the upstream. Is the engine fully warmed up in the 11 miles of cold weather driving?

Yes, the engine is at operating temperature. For checking the codes, I dont have to jump an ALDL? I have to jump my Storm to read codes off that car. No ALDL on the neon?

yes you can pull the codes out of any year neon like this... just go out to the car and do what 12 volt told you to do and you will get codes...

I got a code 43 twice when I pulled the codes. Said that the primary ignition current isnt enough, or engine misfire, or the power module is to blame. What should i replace for that code?

Yes, the plugs and wires were changed. That coil pack is near 100 bucks. Dont know why it has to be so expensive..
