My 96 is in the repair shop
Yesterday my 96 neon broke down had to be towed to the repair shop. the towing guy said it sounded like she needs a new header. I hope thats all and not a rebuilt engine. she lost speed and smoked alot from the front of the engine and then came in it was like she was on fire got out and oil was leaking bad from front of engine.what do you guys think. she has a 187,000 miles and not much for the new transmission. I keep on fixing her cause shes so sweet lookin and ive had her for so long.
it wasnt that much oil there was only alittle on the ground today when I went to see her today plus when I talked to the owner of the shop he said he would take care of getting the key out of the ignition and today I checked and she was unlocked with the key still in her I she could of gotten stolden Im so mad at them so I have the key now. I have to take it out monday but how much do you think a head gasket would run.
Hey I would never want my 96 stolden I dont care about insurance Icare about my 96 Ive done so much to her insurance could never cover how much I put into her . How much do you think a head gasket costs to repair. Both of my neons are show cars.

well I have to get her a rebuilt engine hoprfully around 400-500 bucks I already have a new transmission in her why not save her.shes out of commision for now she only has 3 cylinders working.
The gasket's themselves aren't expensive - you have valve and head gaskets...The labor is what will make the price go up. I'm not sure about Neons, but valve gaskets aren't as hard to replace as head gaskets (hint: you may be able to do it yourself if you have the right tools!).
