Default Crane12

a guy from my work, has several SOHC's Neon parts. and one of which is a Crane 12 cam. he said he would give it to me for $100. my question is, i dont have any other mods to the motor itself yet. would it be worth it? and on a somewhat Neon would it gain any power? i know it will help when i start to mod it but will it on my Neon right now? and how hard is it to install a Cam? Also, could i still run 87Oct?

you may want to jump on it... thats cheap... like cheap cheap... its not hard to swap them as long as the motor is out... but you can also just remove the bobble and fmm and passenger side mount and jack up the one side so you can get to the head... just make sure you use a new cam seal... you would get some gains but you will notice more of a gain every time you upgrade something the better the cam can breath in and out the more you will gain from not only the cam but the cai tb intake manifold head work exhaust manifold and exhuast piping...

wouldn't that damage the transmission?

ALSO sry, dont u have to take off the cam gear to take the cam out?

it wont wurt the tranny because the mount has the rubber insert....allows everything to move about 3 inches in either direction...but that 3 inches makes a hell of a difference on jobs like this
