Ideal would be sticking out of the hood, retards have it go right next to the hot radiator and transmission. If you have a intake that rides a few inches from the ground you deserve to have your motor suck up water and seize. Every design is ****ed up, I got a small 4 inch air cleaner comming right off my turbo inlet, right next door to 1200 degrees and why? cuz I don't give a F U CK.

Even if you were lucky enough to gain 10wheel horsepower the ground dust picker upper/straw isn't worth the bull**** of cleaning filters every 5 days and risking sucking up water. A nice good filter provides more than enough power even above the exhaust. Cone Filters are very good. You want to shed heat get rid of the EGR tube that goes to the intake.

 

how does one get rid of the EGR tube?

 

26 cents or a block off kit... or a can of your fav pop...

 

but it wont pass inspection though right? And that presents a problem for me lol

 

no it will not pass inspection... however you can acually leave the egr tube on there along with the vac lines and just put a quarter inbetween the head and egr sylinoid and about a week before you test take the quarter out so the pcm has time to clear...

 

has anyone done a filter right off the throttle body itself?

 

I used to run that way for a bit, but the car always got better gas mileage with that valve cover breather in the intake tube.

 

what kind of filter would you need for that, none of the regular filters fit directly over the throttlebody do they?

 

theres alot taht fit rite over the throttle body, its finding one that will allow the hood to close without coming in contact with one tho

 

This is my ebay intake. Temporary till i get a turbo. The whole where the battery was is from some hack job of an intake the guy before me had on.
