get a nut just a size smaller than the bolt.. hold the nut on the broken end of the bolt and weld it on...(not to the out side ..on the inside)...make sure you crank the heat up on ur welder so that u get good penetration ...id say probably 18 to 20v and probably around 220-230 wire speed...when ur welding if it sounds like bacon frying its a good weld..after its welded on and cooled get a wrench and use the nut you welded on to back the bolt out...ive used the technique hundreds of times ...itll work

ORIGINAL: 12 volt

should be screwded into the unibody

could you feel the bolt slowy seize or was it hard to turn from the start?

it just wasnt budging at all, me and my brother both were pulling on it together with a breaker bar so hard, the bar was bending, fortunately the guys on neons.org helped me out with this...

yeah, unforutunatly we are not allowed to put those links up....

However for those of you that do not go on the org...

There is a tsb abou this problem... (this is a quote from lorenzo off the org.)

OK what is needed to be done is 2 things there is a TSB out for this which requires you cutting a hole in the floor board over this area. When you do that you will have access to the other half of the bolt. Basically they just tack welded a steel block inside there with threads on it and when the weld breaks the bolt just spins etc. I cut mine off because it broke the weld on it as well. I then had to cut a hole in the car to get access to that area. I then rewelded that block inside the car frame so i can thread a new bolt back in it. it's a horrible job to do but nothing else you can do about it.

I know it's been posted on here before about the tsb and I even think it had pictures in the tsb about it. If I come across it I will post it but that's the only way to get to it.

Lorenzo
just in case you have the same problem there is how you fix it...

I had a similar issue. Send me your email for pics of how I saved my neon.

Cannot located the pics so I'll explain. I took a dremel saw and cut a square into the frame in the area across from the bolt. make an opening to extract the bolt. Get a replacement bolt from the yard and a but to match for Home Depot (or wherever), and then surgically remove the problem. get the reinforced dremel saw blade. Last longer.
