Speedometer Calibration?
So, after I got my car back from the body shop after my wife nearly totaled her neon, I got an instrument panel from a parted out car. I took the black cover off so i could get to the odometer to set it to my actual mileage. I guess when i put the needles back on, i got the speedometer wrong. it seems to be off by like 10 miles or so. The tach is right, cuz the rev limiter kicks in right at 6500 like its supposed to. any ideas on how to calibrate it?

Yea, It shows slower than what i'm actually going. I've read that at 3500 rpms on the interstate i should be going roughly 80 mph. but at that rpm it's showing like 70 or so. Also it's an ATX.

your not "suppost" to remove them but heres how you fix it...
take your upper dash off and take the gauge cluster out...
remove the clear plastic that covers gauges... take speedo needle off...
reinstall cluster back in car, dont screw it down or put the plastic back on.
Turn the car on and very carefully place the needle on the cluster pointing to 0mph...
take the car out without putting things back together to make sure its close... put the plastic back on and screw the cluster back down reinstall your dash and done...
take your upper dash off and take the gauge cluster out...
remove the clear plastic that covers gauges... take speedo needle off...

i did my needle driving i knew at idle in drive it rolled about 10mph knew it was on cause when i got pulled over at 85 thats what the cop said i was doing and the needle was right on

My speedo is off by like 2mph at 65mph because i have slightly bigger tires (i got it checked after i got a ticket). I checked it again on my own with a hand held gps i have and the gps was right on. Those things are more accurate than your speedo will be. Try that if you have access to one.
