Default intake/throttle body question

i bought an intake on ebay and im gonna be installing it this weekend and when i take every thing out i wanna clean out the throttle body. my brother told me i should take it off and clean it and pop on a new gasket. i really didn't wanna go through all that i was just gonna clean it while it was still on the car. if that ok to do or so i take it off and clean it ?

Go to the dealer they are the only ones who carry the correct TB to IM gasket. And it costs about $9.

Its easy to take off. 2 bolts hold the TB to the IM and then you have to take the sensors off.

Cleaning it on the car is hard to do right. Take it off, bench clean it, and get the gasket. your TB is one of the major places that you can lose power, why not do it right for an extra $20? You spent all that money on an intake that will give you almost no gain unless you have done some major mods, and can't spend a few dollars on a gasket and TB cleaning that will probally give you more HP increase than the intake?

the intake was cheap and yeh im gonna do it right i just don't feel like blowing alot of cash on it right now. i'll try the dealer to see how much they cost. i go to dealer last cuz most of the time they are more expensive then the parts stores.

That you are right on. The dealer is the most expensive, but for parts you don't want off a junk yard car its the only option sometimes.

$9 sounds a little cheap, but crazy is usually right.
