LOL that the funniest thing I heard this week. I also have a 98 neon, I did the same thing, when it got down to the point I thought a light should come on, I let it go for a little while, but I stoped and got gas. As far as I know the answer is no they don't have a light. And on mileage, about 300-400 depending on whether or not I am on the pedal or highway or street.

Nice, I have been lucky enough never to run out of gas. Although I had a Jeep cherokee that would not run out of gas, it was on E for a week and I probally put 100 miles on it during that time.

You don't have a tach either, do you?

It's been a loooooong time since I drove a non-tach Neon, but IIRC the non-tachs don't have a low-fuel light or buzzer hooked up.

Hit a junkyard, find any 1g car with a tachometer in it, throw it in your dash, and voila, fuel light.

I put a tach in, I actually like not having it in the cluster. Also I don't need any more idiot lights and buzzers, I know how to read a gauge and know when to get gas. I hate all the crap they put in new cars, I think there should be a test to drive a car on how to read a gas gauge, how to turn your lights off, and take your keys out of the car.

What after market tach did you put in your neon? I have been looking at the ones from Auto-Meter and they are kinda steep. Also where did you mount yours?

I picked one up off of Ebay, its a no name. I would not suggest that, its a piece of crap, now that its cold out, the tach has to warm up before it will read right. In the spring I am buying a new tach. I mounted it on the dash pretty much centered on the defroster vent, and forward, I would show you a pic, but theres 8" of snow on the car right now.
