Not sure about neons, but my a4 (1.8t) comes stock with 9.5:1 compression, and they push 5-7psi stock. My buddy has a 99 passat with the same engine (same engine code) and he's been peaking at 21lbs (18 regularly) in it for the last year or so.

I'm thinking if you replicated that, you should be fine. I would recommend building up the lower end though, especially if you have over about 80,000 miles.

i belive the lowest you can go it 8.8:1. you what to use the lowest possible so you can add as much boost as you can. high ratio and boost tend to detonate, you could retard timing but that wont help for power

He said he wants to run 7-10lbs... so if the 1.8t engines are 9.5:1 w/ 5-7 lbs.... I would say he could safely run between 9.5:1 and 10:1, but dont take my word on it. Those 1.8t's are indestructible little engines, and these 2.0's well... arent. Just do your research, and see what other people are running in their engines.

Other than the fact that the audi/vw's are built much better and are a major bitch to work on, theres really not much of a difference. All I was saying is look around and see what other people are running
