I am pretty sure you would have to run the engine using MS. The SRT-4 engine is a much easier and doable swap than the 05 PT cruiser engine.

Just wondering how you could do anything if it wasn't for the internet? Sometimes you can't expect someone else to give you all the answers. It takes effort to figure things out on your own. What about the very first person to do this? How did they get a guide for the job?
When I put a 2.4 in my Neon, I just did it. The only thing I needed was wiring diagrams which I got out of the FSM.

Well good for you, that is awesome but some people need assistance with swaps, changing brakes or anything else they may need to do. That what is the forum is here for.

There's plenty of "guides" online. but you just can't expect someone else to solve all your questions. Sometimes you just need to put forth some effort, which maybe difficult, to problem solve. If no-one else before you ever tried this swap, does that mean you'd never try it because someone else didn't do it to provide all the answers?

For some people, yes! Not all have the mechanical aptitude to figure things out for themselves, so they need assistance.

Tons of good info man. I'm knee deep in a PT GT swap into my 99 highline right now and a buddy told me to come check this thread out from over at neon.org. I decided to pull motor/trans together just to clean up and paint engine bay but i dont think doing the swap with leaving the trans in would be bad. When i replaced the original motor in my ACR we kept the trans in.

Just one side note. When removing the balance shaft please dont just thread a set screw into the hole to plug it. Do it right and tap it.

Question, if you don't fill the oil passage after removing the balance shaft assembly, wouldn't the oil just dump into the oil pan? Where is the problem, or am I misunderstanding? Also, your trick with swapping the pins on the wiring harness is genius. Excited to see how all turns out with my little project car.
