Default My governor is actually around 120mph...

So i was out driving Sunday morning at about 6:30 in the morning on my way to go fishing. At 6:30 in the morning on a sunday there aren't any cars on the road where i live... Got going off a slight down hill and got up to 120+mph before my governor shut me down. I have larger tires on my car making my speedo off by a couple miles an hour. So when the governor kicked in at 118mph i was actually going slightly over 120mph. I had my speedo tested a while back and my car is off by about 2 mph at 75. Anyways, thought i'd share... it's just exciting when you car tells you that you're going to fast. haha

are you auto??? When I was N/A I couldn't hit 120 after I did my mtx 3:55 swap. I had quite a few other bolt ons. I had dyno proven 35 hp over stock (sohc btw) and still couldn't get to 120. I jus got to 110 ALOT quicker LOL

I have a stock sohc, besides my intake and exhaust. Like i said i was coming off a slight down hill... i don't think i couldn't have done it on a straight away... maybe if it was 7 miles long. I felt like i could have hit 125 though if the governor didn't kick in. I have been trying to hit the governor for a long time and have never found a long enough straight away without having my buddy in the car. But with that down hill to help my 5th gear power, or lack there of, i was able to get up to that speed (by myself of course). Oh, i almost forgot... with my 17" rims and my performance tires 120mph wasn't bad (i still felt comfortable) besides the really loud wind noise coming from both of my front windows. haha

ive gotten to 118 several times in my 97 3 speed auto sohc, back when it was stock, very easily, even on a slight uphill, just hold it too the floor as hard as you can, not a very bright idea, but surprised me that it got there that easy (btw, that was with a tiny mtx throttle body that somehow ended up on my car from the factory

havent taken my 96 5 speed sohc cam up there yet, but i can beat a 4.6 regular auto mustang in it, it only has a pacesetter, atx tb, glass pack, and udp w/ ps/ac delete, and the car wieghs about 2000 pounds

avoid accident by going 2 mph slower...
dohc's top out at 130mph
so my dohc 2.4 with the upgrades in my sig should get to 130mph.. i havent tried top speed yet but the most ive taken it to so far is 106 but i believe i was still in 4th gear, cuz if it was 5th i have to hold it in gear andi dont remember holding it in
