between rattle can and 4k paint job
have u guys heard of painting ur car w/ a brush or rollerand rustoleum? its sounds nuts doesnt it?
-check these sites. im thinking of doing this and turning the car red. i cant afford a respray and my hood has surface rust spots all over it. the car is down this week anyway.
on the first one scroll down till u see the 69 charger .... thats where the fun begins. honestly. this looks pretty cool.

made up my mind. im painting the hood red this week using this method. ill post my results - let u know how it turns out. the paints already bad. worste case scenario im out like $20 or less for one panel.
i painted about a 62 chevy pickup green with a brush. looked like ****.
painted a 68-ish ford van black with spray cans. also looked like ****.
try an auto/body tech school. they might do it for the cost of the paint or less. also ask around paint supply shops for people who paint on the side.

did u check the links? theres more than a handful of guys who did this with rustoleum thinned way down to the point that it self-levels. im def. giving it a shot
its in the prep, not the paint
i painted the roof of my 97 dd neon white, cause it was rusting, 99% of people think i had it professionally sprayed, and it was done with rustoleum rattle can
i sanded to the metal, primed several coats, sanded with 320 grit, painted several coats, wet sanded with 600, clear coated with rattle can, wet sanded with 2000 and buffed
use a block to sand it

Rustoleum Makes any job look good this is onetime where prep work is not as important as paint.
Lets see you do the same work with 99 cent wal mart paint that fogs over as soon as you apply it. I spray bombed my stockspoiler because I had bought it off somebody as a sanded down white spoiler, I had washed the spoiler and sanded it then washed it again then I primed it then I used Wal Marts 99 cent paint to finnish and instantly I had runs and fogging over, I sanded it down the next day and used Rustoleum Paintand it looks like a professional body shop did it along with Rustoleum Clear coat.
I've painted over 100 model cars and used bus loads of different kinds of paint and my best models all have Rustoleum and Testors Paint.
My Point is all the prep work in the world isn't going to help Wal Mart paint or paints like Wal Mart paints consistantcy. Next time your in the store go for the can that costs $3-5. Don't get me wrong prep work is very important but the paint qualityis the deal breaker. Your paint job is only as strong as its weakest link.
