OK just today my 99's clutch has developed a strange creak, kind of like the sound a door on old hinges makes. I have confirmed that the sound is coming from under the car. My question is- how can I tell what kind of clutch I have so I can diagnose the problem? Do I have a hydraulic clutch? I'm lost here.
all 1st gens have a cable clutch and I'm going to assume that it is your throwout bearing... how does your pedal effort feel??? does the pedal return quickly???
the throwout bearing is in the bellhousingin the transmission between the pressure plate and the clutch fork. the transmission has to be removed from the engine to access it.
