My son is thinking about buying a 97 Eclipse 2.0 dohc, is the drive train interchangeable with first gen Neons?

Block is the same....thats all.

 

What are you referring to when you say "driver train?" The transmission, lash adjusters, lifters, etc?

 

Just wondering about engine, trans, etc.

You can use the lower end of the engine. The head is backwards and will not work on the neon. The tranny is way to big to fit into a neon and will not work without modification. So you can only use the block, brank, pistons. You will even need to use the sensors off you eclipse. and brackets.

 

Is that what makes the Eclipse so fast
