Howdy...
I currently own a 1995 SOHC 2.0 (needing some help, only 72K on the car, however) Neon with a 5-speed...I have located a wrecked 2001 Neon 2.0 SOHC with 5-speed....will the basic engine and 5-speed transmission out of the 2001 Neon swap into the 1995 Neon?

ive been wondering the same thing. the main differences that i see are the engine mounts, but with time and money anything is possible

directly with no modification - no.

along with mounts the wiring harness and pcm may need to be changed.

The blocks r the same right? I would just use the engine and head with all the 95 sensors? Then use the 95 harness and ecu? You will need one motor mount adapter for the passenger side? Dont quote me but this is how I would attempt it.

nope... is easy... take the 1st gen side motor mount off the passenger side and transfer it on to the 2nd gen bock... done. the outer timing belt cover may have to be swapped as well...

So it's a direct bolt in, provided the mount is changed?

No wiring issues?

Any idea on whether the 2001 transmission will fit?

Pepsi or Coke?

What about the 2001 timing belt adjuster? I have heard there are problems with the 2000-2001 motors in this regard...

You'll need the crank,knock,IAT,cam and Mapsensors from a 95 motor. I just so happen to have all of those sensors if you need.
