I just want to thank everyone for all the answers. Been reading this site for years, just recently registered. Def paying off now. I've got a red 98 dohc mtxmild mods daily driver. The wife has a white 96 sohc atx- rod knockin'. So now in the garage I have 2 more - a blue 96 sohc mtx, blown head gasket, parting this one out for the bottom end and mtx; and a black 99 sohc atx; decent body broken timing belt- gave $400for both. Fixing the black 99 for the 'ol lady. Repairing the bottom end on the white 96 to sell for a little change in my pocket.

Has anyone noticed a few years ago these cars were considered by many to be junk, now with current gas prices they suddenly have value again. I consider myself lucky to have found these 2 at the prices I did. 35 mpg in my 98, and fun to drive- I love it. Saves the mileage on our 05 grand caravan, and our 97 5.9 Ram..... 13 mpg, yeah not so cool for a 70 mile daily commute to work!
