Default brake light problem

i have a 96 plymouth neon. only the center brake light is working. for a while the left brake light and blinker worked now i have no blinkers in the back or brake lights except the center one. bulbs are fine. i believe it its the blinker switch as the running lights still work when i turn them on. i looked at autozone and its about $42. i think i read on here that someone was able to find them for about $20. so my questions are

is it the switch?
where can i get it for $20
thanks chris

I dont know about the cheap switches, but it almost for sure is the switch. I had the same thing happen to me in one of my other Neons.

Chase your wiring back from the lights or from the switches. Make sure there are no opens or grounds. That could also cause similar problems.

Default RE: brake light problem

I have this problem in one Light listed in another post, Does anyone know where I can find all the grounds that would effect the tail light and how to test them (even better test them using a multi meter) i think its just my second filament in that light missing power but i dont have a clue where to start / how to start looking to find out what the problem is (i suck with electrics). Fon, if your switch doesnt work, Try changing the 2 and 6 (?) fuses in your panel as these fuses control those back lights, there may even be on under the hood? Also check the socket its self and make sure it is not corroded or otherwise filmed/crusted up.
