Usually they get a little moisture in them. Cleaning it out and playing with the plug to make sure its snug could be a good start. Did you change the cluster already?

sumtimes its hard to diagnose between a bad speed sensor and a bad gauge cluster....
if your speedometer just stops working, then it could be either one

If the speed sensor is bad, the odometer won't work either.

das2123: My speedometer doesnt work half the time either, and when it doesnt work, the Odometer doesnt. I replaced the speed sensor and it didnt help. Its a waste of money ($60)...and a pain in the rear. I would recommend having the "Ratchet Wrench". It takes an 8mm, if you MUST replace it...

Jdawg: Id take off the gauge cluster and get to the circuit board. If you have access to a soldering iron, there are two points you need to solder. Name: solderpoints.jpg
