2001 motor in a 1997
i just got a 2001 sohc neonmotor with 65000 miles on it for free. i wont to know if that motor would work in my 1997 neonor would i have to change alot of stuff. and if anyone has done this could u tell me what is different that i would have to change.

no u cant use the computer or harness, 2nd gens use something called like bus serial data somehitng
wont go with a 1st gen
but u could use megasquirt or just the head i think, the block too, just not the harneesss
i think u can adapt a 97 harness to work, dunno ask das or spud

swap every sensor over from your 1997 onto the 2001 sohc well la you got a working sohc! its easier than **** to do, 30 minutes of swaping and yer done!.
use the 1997 intake manifold and throttlebody. How hard is that? its a piece of cake.

Swap crank sensor,knock sensor,cam sensor,temp sensor,oil pressure sensor and just use your 97 intake with throttlebody and injectors.
You take all those 97 sensors and put them on the 01 motor its very easy like I said before, if you lived near meId even do it for you for free!

There will be a problem regaurding your intake manifoldand cam sensor, you'll need to get a intake manifold and throttlebody cuz the dohc intake wont work and theres a difference in sensors.
I have a sohc intakeand throttlebodysetup with sensors including a sohc cam sensorI'd sell you for $55 plus shipping.
