in the first gen, the ebrake bolts up to 2 bolts, which are diaganal from each other, in the second gen, it uses the to right side bolts, hooks up just like a first gen ebrake with that exception, the reason its offset to the right is to give room for the cupholder

There is no cutting to use the 2nd gen console. Just use the 2nd gen ebrake as well, as mentioned, and be happy.
