Default NO DRAIN PORTS AHHH!!!!

so trying to get the gas out of my newest Neon so i can swap the fuel tank out. it has about half a tank of gas so i want to get it out. problem, cant siphon it out AND i cant find the dang drain port on the fuel tank. its a 97 plastic tank so it should have the drain plug next to the filler neck right? least thats what Haynes shows. and on the 95's its on the fuel pump itself. so....how would one go about getting that gas out? i need to re-use the tank so drilling it out of the question.

the only way i have found to get the gas out easily, is the disconnect the filler neck, remove the 2 straps, and completely remove the gas tank...
once the gas tank is out, then you can pour the gas out of the filler neck

Spud, wouldn't the fuel spill out as you remove it though?

just drop the drivers side 1st and keep the tank elevated on the passenger side...once the tank is down, then disconnect the filler neck

well cant get the dang tube off...so i think i'm gonna try and raise the vehicle some more so i can lower the tank down and forward to get it off.

i'm still trying to figure out why both my 97's didn't come with the "mythical" drain plug that the FSM speaks of...

if the fuel pump still works then why not unhook the line and run it in to a fuel can?
