My engine is pretty dirty and I want to get alot of the dirt off to protect my engine more. Is there anything as far as degreasers that anyone recommends? How exactly should I wash it off? What all should be covered and what water temp should I have. Is there anything that I should avoid washing and what about the pressure? What if my car doesn't start afterwards?

I know I'm paranoid and a newbie but I'm tryin to learn.

just take it to the coin operated car wash soak the engine with tire cleaner and then powerwash it down while it is still running.
