i wouldnt let it go much past 80 - 90 k. my car was babied as a newborn and somehow made it to 212k on a stock timing belt and head gasket. but when the belt broke - it took all but four valves with it.

Changed ever 60k s the factory spec. Depends on the driver somewhat. Are you a gambler...?

Timing belt, water pump and idler pulley should be changed every 100,000 miles.

Try to stick to the 97-99 1st gens if you can. They have more common engine sensors than the 95 and 96.

Just did my daughter's '96 Highline coupe at 98K. The water pump went out, the belt looked good but it had been replaced by the previous owner. New pump (no rebuild junk) and idler pulley. I got an assortment of 12x1.75mm bolts to make the process of removing and installing the balance easier.
