Default 2nd gen center console

so i picked up some 2nd gen front seats and a center console yesterday from the junk yard....it all cost me 5 aluminum rims...
so i got the seats in this morning without any problems, but the center console wont work at all....its for an auto but i was hoping it wouldnt matter...
i used the 2nd gen e-brake handle...had to weld a bracket on the end of the cable to allow it to rear the e-brake cables in the car
also got the 2nd gen shifter setup...the 1st gen cable wont work...so i just took off the top cover and glued it to the center console....but the shift handle doesnt allign properly so it cant work...and the console wont go down all the way so there would have been a gap almost an inch tall between the floor and the bottom of the console...kinda sux because i really wanted a 3rd cup holder..
anyone know how to get it to work?

You were usin the sonsol on a atx 1G? When installing said consol in my mtx 1G, the effort was quite minimal.

i heard that the consoles fit pretty well in a mtx 1st gen, but no one could really get 1 to work in an atx due to the way the shifter setup was positioned....

i had to use the 2nd gen gear selector cover since the 1st gen wouldnt fit the opening, but i had to glue the 2nd gen cover to the console since there was no way to mount it

then i had to cut the front mounting bracket for the 1st gen gear selector cover off of the shifter base....also had to cut the bracket off the car that the center console screwed to in the front
