I have a 98 dohc neon that wont start sometimes. I have replaced the coil, crank sensor, cam sensor, plugs, and plug wires. It has 42 lbs fuel pressure, I have switched theASD relay with the horn relay.
The car runspretty good (stumbles momentarily around 5500 rpm)"when" it starts.
It either starts no problem or it cranks and cranks. No codes. It has spark and fuel pressure when it wont start.
You leave it for an hour (or a week) and itstarts and idles immediately when you hit the key. It mayrun fine for 3 or 4 trips then it wont start again. It never quits when it isrunning though.
It doesnt seem to matter ifit is hot or cold, I tried every daythis week and it wouldnt start. Tonight I tried to diagnose it again and with 2 plug wires hooked up to open plugs (to check spark quality) it started and ran on 2 cylinders (just hit the key to crank it, no throttle)
I let it run to charge the battery and it ran fine. I am scared to drive it (actually just shutit off).

My father in law gave me the car because he gave up and I traded my brother for his "old" 50 inch plasma but I have to get it fixed before I feel right taking his tv.

When the car is running ur only getting 42? The reluator in the back should put off a steady 49psi. Sounds like a fuel or spark problem. Check spark when it wont start. SO you can eliminate that.
