Overheating, Or is it?
I have a 1995 Dodge Neon DOHC. I recently recharged my a/c and my car has been overheating everytime i turn it on a/c. The lower the air output the slower it overheats, if i have it on full blast it will overheat in seconds. I checked the fans and noticed only one was working. I got them both to work properly but with no effect on my overheating problem. I checked to see if the compressor was turning correctly and it is. I've also noticed that with the regular air running on cool (not a/c) it will still show its overheating. Once i turn the air off it goes back to normal in about 10 to 15 seconds wether im driving or sitting still. What could my problem be? Do you think that its just a problem with my temp gauge not working properly or is it something more sinister? Is there a way to check the temp of my motor without buying a new gauge? Im not trying to spend much money on this if possible.
I am have the same problem on my 97 dohc except if turn on the heater it returns to normal I think my fans not kickin in Ive replaced the cap and thermstat Autozone sells a module for it but I cant seen to locate the module in my car any suggestions or ideas would be helpful

i know my a/c isn't overcharged, i have a gauge to read out the psi. Both my fans work and my coolant level is good. Quite confusing to say the least. I guess i will just have to let it go, im tired of working on cars all the time. Maby its just time to upgrade!?!
1st of all my overheating prob was the fan relay
dehahn if you car will overheat in seconds I would think its the temp sending unit I can understand your frustrations as I went thru the same thing first replacing the thermostat then the cap and was frustrated checking everything before I tried the relay the chrysler book wasnt much help either didnt state where the fan realy was or anything just a schematic
