Default Fuel pump/Fuel gauge

I put a new fuel pump in a few months ago and ever since my gauge is all messed up when at like 3/8th of a tank my car is running almost empty. Has anyone heard of this occurance and or know how i can fix it?

sounds like it might need a new fuel level sender....its the circuit board looking thing with 2 wires on it connected to the outside of the fuel pump canister

I had an issue like that when I replaced my fuel pump; the needle stayed on empty even when i had a full tank. I knew all my wires were good. I said screw it and drove it for about 6 months like that. Finaly one day I was driving down a dirt road hitting some bumps and it started working again just like it was supposed to.
