I have a motor i just pulled out of my neon. it was knocking, and it sounded like it was coming from the block. my question is, as the motor sits right now, head still attached, alternator, powersteering pump, and ac compressor gone, how much do you think i could get for it?

 

maybe $150-200? maybe a little more i would say.

 

I can buy them in good running condition for 200-350 at the very most. Lucky as heck to get 150 in my opinion.

if its got a knocking, i wouldnt plan on getting any more then $100 or so..
if the knocking is comming from the block then its probally a rod bearing...if thats the case, a new rod might be needed, new bearings, and the crankshaft may have to be either replaced or resurfaced.....all of which would cost sumwhere around $400 or more since all the gaskets would need to be replaced as well.....
doesnt sound good if good running motors can be purchased for anywhere from $100-$500

ALTHOUGH the Doritos sound tempting, i need cash for it lol. I need to help pay off my new motor.

 

scrap it.

$.70 a pound for aluminum and about $.10 a pound for iron.

 

so what am i looking to get for it if i scrap it? i have no clue on the weight and whatever.
