i have a 97 neon that started misfiring.
it only does it at 1500 to 2500 rpms and at around 5000 rps.
its idling fine and the wiers and plugs are new.
im thinking the timing belt but it looks fine.
this has got me stumped

 

Misfires can be alot of things....do you have any codes?

 

ill check again but....
i took it for a drive and when it misfired i tried to give it gas and a snap sound came from the front right side and it now dosnt idel so smooth lol it pops here and there so maybe it is the timing belt

 

nothing new, just code 21 thats been there for years

 

any help would be great

 

Did you check the coil pack? Make sure it doesn't have any cracks and clean the leads if you have to. Check all you battery connections to make sure they are clean and tight.
