Default DOHC swap

I'm 16 and want a project for my advanced auto class @ school. I have the 2.0 SOHC and it's on it's way out. I was thinking on finding a wrecked pt cruiser or srt 4 but then got to thinking, why not just put the DOHC from a first gen neon in and rebuild it. All the wiring and connections are the same, right? Does anyone know pricing on the whole package? Intake, block, head, injectors.... and so forth I would also want to throw I turbo in if I can find one. any help or advice would be amazing I make like $500 a month and $200 goes to insurance and gas.

you could do it, i think the only thing that would be needed besides the engine would be the PCM. SRT4 need a bit more things to make it work but its possible. You could also use the SRT4 turbo if you want allthow turbo systems are a bit more involved. I wouldnt pay more that 4OO for a used engine but thats just me.

the dohc swap is pretty easy as it is so there shouldnt be many problems....
depending on what year your car is will determine how expensive the swap will be

well i've been thinking about it a bit more and i think i'll just throw in the 1st gen DOHC engine and do a rebuild on it. How big of a turbo could i throw on there that can run anywhere from 6 to 11 psi? i would imagine that that would be the appropriate range. and what else would i need besides a pcm for a turbo, and intercooler, piping and bigger injectors? any help is welcomed

SRT turbo would be a good start for you based on your psi rating...

You could do a rebuild on your SOCH then add a turbo wallet permitting later on.
