well MSD has nothing to do with the RPM limiter
What will a MSD unit do for me? Easier starts, more horsepower, better throttle response are the expected results from a MSD capacitive discharge ignition - whether it's an analog or digital system.

the engine is designed to run well at the specific RPM range. So you dont have to have o put it to 10,000 RPM to make power. Another thing is that running at such extrem RPM is going to cause excessive wear and strain on all you parts, which can lead to premature failure. SO if you just like to rev high be prepared to spend alot of $.

in short there is a reason the line is red and the engine has a rev limiter.

7200 RPM is PLENTY for these motors, any more and you are looking at scary failures...

Sweet video 12 volt, really shows the concept of valve float.

i think this thread is getting pretty pointless....
you cant just throw a cam in a car and wire in a similar msd box to get a higher rev limit...
the rev limiter on these cars is set to 7200 because much higher, stuff would start to fall apart and break....these motors are build to rev high, but not 10,000rpms..besides, the powerband doesnt go much higher...higher rpms are a waste of time without compatible mods

to saftely rev to 10,000rpms you will need to do alot of work to the motor....
cam
valve springs
valve spring retainers
long rods
long rod pistons
