Default small problem....help me out

so im not sure of the exact car terminology to use so ill just use kindergarten vocabulary. If your standing in front of your car right below the fuse box slightly to the left theres a cable and at the end of the cable (on mine because im missing a part) theres a big circle loop (about the size of a half dollar coin) and this circle connects to a small little part so your standard car can shift gears. Now heres my problem... my big circle will slip off of this small part that it connects to and it will result in me not being able to shift at all. You guys know what im talking about? Anyone got one? because my mechanic said that part would cost 150 dollars and i was like eff that.

the bushings arent available through most parts stores and the dealerships sell only the cable...but go to boogerracing.com then click on order page on the laft of the screen.....the bushing are only $22 shipped and are well worth the money

not to mention you can put the bushings in yourself with just hand tools and dont have to take it to a shop

all you do is push the old pushing (if they are still there, 1 of your isnt) out of the cable ends...you can usually do it with your hands or pry it out with a screwdriver....then just slide the new bushings in and they basically clip onto the shifter arm on the trans..

i wouldnt even worry about changing the bushings on the shifter handle....it will really stiffen the shifter up, but the stock ones usually dont go bad there
