PROBLEM: when i try to shift into 2 4 or R it seems spongy and doesnt go into any gear at all. also sometimes it wont go into 1 3 or 5 and at a stop seems to want to nudge the car forward a bit.

i tried to check the cables but they seemed ok to me. after i jiggle around the two arms on top of the tranny it will shift fine for a few minutes then it goes back to not wanting to go into gear. i did look around and saw that we forgot a bolt on the front of the tranny to the Motor mount. could the slight unalignment from that cause something? what else could cause it?

 

Sounds like a broke cable My cavy did the same thing. it would shift into 1st 3rd and 5th. But when you tried shifting out it would stay in gear. Also there is a little adjuster under the shifter. Make sure thats not out of wack.

 

are you bushings and everything still good?

i guess if it comes down to you needing new cable, let me know....i have some in the garage....

 

dam man .. you got like everything in your garage? i mite as well just go ahead and get them from ya and try it out.

 

yeah i do have alot of ****..if it isnt in the garage then its in the shed..
i save alot of misc. parts just incase i need them or other people do....
not only neons either....half my shed is packed full of parts for late 60's darts/valiants/dusters

 

and i have some brand new booger bushings if you need them (blue not that it matters you do not really see them)

 

my frined has a valient in his back yard... i bet him one day that it wouldnt run and sure enough it started and did a burnout to ... had been sitting fr years. and i ordered bushings already.

 

what year valiant?

 

ill ask him today... he was just gona hook up the nitrous bottle to it and blow it up were it sits lol
