Default timing belt removal

I just took the timing belt off of my DOHC neon. I marked the two sprockets and when i removed the tension on the belt it appears that both cam sprockets moved the same amount in the opposite direction. When I try to move them back before installing the belt it takes a lot of effort to move them. Is it normal for them to move or are my eyes playing tricks on me? I could not find any alignment marks on the sprockets, is there a process to get everything back in order with the timing belt removed.

thanks
