Default dang struts!

so I finally got my KYB's and I'm attempting to take the strut mounts off the old struts but I cant seem to get the shaft nut off! It just spins the metal shaft of the strut. I noticed in the FSM that theres a special tool that you can use to get the shaft nut off and then put a 10mm on top of the shaft to keep it from spinning. But I dont feel like spending $90 for the tool. so any idea's on how to keep it from spinning?

Beg borrow or steal an impact wrench.

If not, I think it's a 10mm hex on the end of the shaft, and the nut's 21mm. With some frustration it will come off, or you'll ball tap yourself with the 21mm when the head shears off the strut. Get an impact...

Put your old mount on the end of the shaft upside down, and try to flex the bushing. See if it's worth keeping or not (i'll guess not)

Yeah I got it. a 13/16s spark plug socket with a 10mm 1/4" socket inside with extensions going through it and then through some adapters and then onto my impact... it came off lol. just stubborn as ever.

i'm sure you're done allready, but I bet if you flipped them over and put some force on them you'd see the bushing pulling away from the rubber. It's only a melted rubber connection, they dont last the greatest...
