Question 97 Neon blowing out oil?

A freind of mine way overfilled her oil. When I saw the car it was blowing oil right out the exhaust so I told her to at least get the extra oil out so she did. Then she drove the car for about an hour and now she said the oil is comeing out where you fill it. Does anyone know what could be wrong with the motor now?

How far overfilled was it?
Where's the oil comming from? If it's comming out the oil fill cap, replace the cap...

Let it sit for at least an hour, then check the oil to see if it's at the correct level. If it's a SOHC, then anywhere inbetween min and max is fine. If DOHC, right at the MIN leval is the best place for it. If it is at that level, start it.

If it still blows oil out somewhere, take a picture or video and post up where the oil comes from.

My guess is clogged EGR from the oil. At worse, blown gasket somewhere...

When I looked at it the oil was half way up the stick. Since she said it started comeing out where you fill the oil I have not seen it yet.

Yes I coudnt belive it when I saw it. She said she couldnt get it to the full mark! I should have had her show me where she thinks the full mark is at. She said that it did quit smokeing after she had the oil drained so maybe now it is just something simple like the pcv valve. I am going to look at it on friday.

I'm sorry but that is such a girl thing to do, and I can say that cause I am a girl. "But I only filled it up to the line!" The 'line' being the top of the dipstick hole, lmao...

Probably advise her to take it to an oil change place from now on.

it sound like it could have damaged the Piston rings or ring lands. Ive also heard that it could bend rods. Try pulling the plugs and see if there coverd in oil, this would indicate a internal oil leak. Also the oil will come out of the Valve cover if the cap is off.

well a buddy of mine overfilled his oil in a sunfire. it blew cam and rear main seal, valve seals and engine bearings. so i would definitely drain the oil now.
