Default Stock Cam Specs??? Head Designs...

Anyone happen to know the stock cam specs? I was wondering what the DOHC, SOHC 95 AND 96+, ACR/RT SOHC, Magnum specs were? I want to upgrade but want to know what I am looking for.

I know that people are doing head swaps... so here's one Is a head swap more beneficial than a port job? Are teh ACR/RT magnum head the same as a SRT4 head besides the cam?

Is a Ported Cast intake manifold better than a Plastic?

What is optimum Exhaust size?

Anyone done the cheap poly mount upgrade with window adhesive? (window that are glued to track instead of bolted)?

I was thinking of modding cheaply.... So what I was thinking on was a port job, 55MM from a Jeep 4.0, some long tube headers and 2 3/4 or 3" exhaust pipe. I have the notorious head gasket leak. Would that gain a bunch or not too much? So far I have a 3" CAI under front bumper with a 3" hole in bumper, no muffler and a chopped shift ****.

Hoping to have a good autox car for summer since my monster Fiero is not happening.

Main goal is 4-7K RPM. Hopefully something that'll hit 14.5 or low 15 cheaply.

SOHC Cam specs will be in this order:Lift @ 0 lash (mm), Duration @ 0.5mm, Valve Open @ 0.5mm (intake/exhaust, Valve Close @ 0.5mm (intake/exhaust)

95 cam - Intake 7.8, Exhaust 7.03 216.8/229.1, 4.9/43.7, 41.7/5.4
96-04 cam - Intake 7.2, Exhaust 7.0 207.2/229.1, 13.9/43.7, 41.1/5.4
01 Magnum cam - Intake 8.75, Exhaust 8.00 212.0/228.5, 13.4/45.2,
02-04 Magnum cam - Intake 8.5, Exhaust 8.0 213.2/228.5, 12.6/45.2, 3.3/45.8

I don't have the DOHC cam specs, but there isn't any difference from the 95-99. You could only use the DOHC cam if you swap the head also.

The Magnum head is not the same as the SRT-4. The SRT is a DOHC engine.

The only advantage to the metal intake manifold is that it can be but and welded to your application. It is heavier than the plastic one, and the plastic one is smoother on the inside.

Stock exhaust is 2.25" and plenty enough for any N/A engine. Especially considering you want to do this on the cheap.

Big question.... My 95 neon plastic intake manifold and throttle body I got a 4.0 jeep and was going to mod it but noticed the enlarged port for the IAC. was this a 1year manifold?

The 95 intake manifold is different as it had slots for the TPS and IAC. These sensors were combined for the 96 and later models.

Crane cams says: duration @ 0.050" 196/196 and .344"/.315" for lift

As for intake selection, the plastic intake might be smooth, but the DOHC is two piece so it can be honed and ported for more CFM's. That's my humble opinion..

But veterns, please, educate the newbie (me), this is the second time I heard of a 4.0L jeep throttle body on a neon. Can someone explain that one to me???

Default 4.0 tb

4.0 Jeep throttle body automatics got a 60mm and the manual got a 55mm if I am not mistaken. Now the IAC connector is the same and but is mounted reversed. If you unbolt the 4 bolts in the back you can reverse it for use on the neon. It has a 4 bolt pattern you just oversize 2 of them. the TPS needs to be swapped over and the linkage for the cables need to be swapped also.
