there are alot of different features between the 2nd gen sohc and the 1st gen dohc...it would be very interresting..
i think the biggest issue would be the pcm

I do believe that the block is still basically the same. But you will run into transmission and PCM problems.

the PCM looks the same - but its just the casing. it is only a two plug. it is not the 4 plug associated with the sentry and NGC cars. so wouldn't it be nice if I could just swap the engine harness and it would work? i cant imagine that will be the case though.

1. because I don't think the sohc pcm in the car will like my DOHC sensors
2. because I dont think my DOHC 99 PCM will like running 2nd gen gauges and other electronics.

if I could get an 00+ MTX bellhousing I think I should be able to use my t-350. this car is an auto, so I'll have to find that elsewhere.

All the 96-99 PCM's look the same, but operate the vehicle differently.

It can be done, but isn't the easiest swap. You also run into the PCM/gauge cluster problems and crank trigger problems. Also have to fab up a new side motor mount bracket.

i would think that for the amount of power that you would gain, the swap wouldnt be worth it

sounds like too much trouble...it would be easier to do an srt-4 motor swap.

i dont exactly think that an srt4 swap would be much easier by any means, but the bennefits would be more....though so would the price

An SRT swap into a 2nd gen is much easier than in a 1st gen

well yeah i know, but i was thinking of it more as an srt swap into a 2nd gen compared to a 2nd gen dohc swap
