rev limiter!
hello fellows! i just got to heard from sum1 that its possible elminate the rev limiter just disconecting some cable in the pcm on a 98 neon its that true? and sum1 know how to do it?
that is not a good idea, that rev limiter is there to prevent internal engine damage. You can buy a piggyback system that will let you set the rev limiter. I would not set it any higher that where your peak HP is not more than 1500 rpm's at most under your rev limiter. after that, you seriously risk internal engine damage.
yeah bro i know that, but the neon that i built up its a dohc, with a forged cranknshaft and betters cams, so at 6750 rpm i cant get great hp on the car, i cant get a piggybak cuz i live in latin america, i cant get dollars and to import over here that kind of stuff its imposibble for my stupid president, thats why im asking that but u know how to do it?? if u know tell me it gonna be helpfull
6750 on a dohc? it should go to 7,200 stock. You need to get a paypal account (if offered there) and buy a mopar or afx ecu from someone thats willing to ship that far. Or figure a way to order one from modernperformance or howell.
DAS2123 I CANt get one for my country over here dont sell that kind of stuff this country its a crap, and the car rev 6750 cuz its a built engine it was soch and now dohc, my neon sohc rev 7200 but the cams that we get are for like 8700 rpm for a good hp, we dont bought it we send to "cut" the cams! its sumshing that they to here! I got everything to buy it but here we cant import anything in this moment the president forbid it.. but if anyone know how to please tell me
Is it possible to find a DOHC MTX PCM over there? That would at least raise the rev limiter to 7250 RPM. Peak HP is about 6500 RPM anyway though.

if you are still using the stock rods and pistons, i dont think they will hold up to high rpms....you need more then cams and a forged crank to go high rpms without any problems
did you replace the valve springs and retainers too?
