Somewhere I read if you run platinum's it will make the neon idle crappy, and lose some power. So over the platinum's yes coppers are a benefit. But you shouldn't be looking for power out of your basic maintenance.
Is the part number RC9YC just the stock plug? On my dakota I have autolights that are actually a lower heat range that run smoother than the stock champions. Im just wondering cause I want to replace these on my girlfriends car soon
Plugs are plugs, I have not noticed any difference in how my neon runs w/ different kinds of plugs. But what you will notice is if you get some ultra-low resistance plug wires.
Ok thanks for the info spud. My girl just got a neon and Im gonna do some basic maintenance on it so I know when it was done, that it was done right and with the right parts
i only ever use NGK plugs, ive had both autlight and champion plugs both snap in half on me or crack multiple times. Im using the NGK G-power platinum plugs in my neon now for over a year and it runs flawlessly.

Well I have. I was getting misfire codes and a weird idle, even with factory specs. So I went back to champion coppers. It may have just been crappy plugs I bought, or maybe the neon liked the other plugs. I dont know.
When I first bought my 97 coupe back in 1997 the guy said he just put on new spark plugs and wires and then the head gasket went and it started to run rough. First thing I did once i got it home was changed out the spark plugs and sure enough, they were the Bosch Platinums, changed them out and the car ran fine, but then i decided to do the head gasket since I knew it was now the only issue.
