afx race comp rebuild
ok first of all d like 2 say hi to all the people on here ...i havent been on for awhile ...been really busy..but anyway im taking on my burnt up afx race pcm head on...last season the right drive axle broke. it jumped up and grabbd ahold of the wiring harness and twisted it up into a big mangled mess of bare wires...to make a long story short my afx pcm got fried in the process.....i have it all apart and removed all the silicone to gain access to the circuit board...i broke out the trusty dmm and im checking all the circuits for continutity. well to b quite honest ...im no computer freak ...id much rather have a wrench in my hand than this dmm but i gotta do wat i gotta do...the hope in all this is that i can find the component or components that are burnt up and solder in new ones and presto!! ..ill have my afx pcm back in business....im currently runnin the mopar performance pcm ...but id rather have the afx back ....can anyone help me out with tips on how to find the burnt up components and or find me a wiring diagram for the pcm ...im unable to find one...i imagine that the burnt circuits are the oil sending circuit and the alt circuit because those are the 2 parts of the harness that received the blunt of the force when the axle let lose....much appreiated if anyone has any ideas for me
I had the same thing happen, but my PCM didn't fry...thank god...it's a pain redoing all the wiring if you don't have a spare harness. good luck w/ ur pcm i'd just buy a new one or take it to a computer freak to check the circut board.
well i feel better knowing that im not the only 1 that has gone through this ...but im curious as 2 y mine fried and urs didnt ..well i know a little about computers and electronics...im not qualified to fix them as a profession by any means but i figured id give this a shot....its better that i atleast try to fix it rahter than have a $500+ paper weight....and as for taking it to a computer freak ...i was kinda hoping that sumone on hear would know more about them than i would ....id love to learn how to diagnose them cuz electronics has always been exciting to me i like to know how things work ya know?.....but anyway does anyone have anything that can help me out...ive been fiddling with this thing for 2 night now with no avail....a list of the pin connectors would b nice so i can track the circuits from the pins at the connectors
ok well i found a listing of the pin numbers and what they are ...but are the pins numbered from the top left of the plug from left to right or what? ....i remember finding a labeled drawing of the face of the connector when i was wiring up my tach but i cant find it agian.
