So I am putting a 4 lug hub on my project Neon so that it can be moved when we move within the next month or so but heres my question. I lost the ball joint bolt for the front passanger side and when I went looking to see what size it was everyone told me to get the bolt from the dealership or junkyard since its a hardened bolt. Since the car is JUST going to be moving from my garage to a trailer (not a dolly but a trailer) and then to the new garage, can I just go to Home Depot or Lowes and get the correct size bolt and nut and call it a day? or even for that little trip of less than 50 feet total should I get a hardened one from the dealer or junkyard?

Also, the Neon has NO engine nor transmission installed. its all the trunk so theres no weight on the front of the car. and theres really nothing else on the car no fuel tank, no exhaust, no fenders or hood or anything except the interior and doors and trunk lid

 

It will hold just fine, but seriously dude, someone's selling them for like $2 shipped if you poke around the for sale forum. You'll be tempted to run it on the street like that, or you'll forget about it. Why bother? Also, a local hardware store should beable to hook you up...

alright thanks man. just wanted to get a second opinion and I wont forget trust me. one 4 lug and the other three are 5 lugs lol.

Cause my 95 neon was a 4 lug and it needed a wheel bearing, and I had a car that I wasn't using and i felt like being cheap so I took the passanger side steering knuckle off my 97 project car thats a 5 lug and put it on my 95 lol. so my 95 Neon has 3 wheels that are 4 lugs and one that is a 5 lug. SO in turn my project car is missing steering knuckle but I had the old one off my 95 with the 4 lug so its going on just so I can move the car.

 

Lol, must be nice having 4 neons to swap parts with...
