The Viper filter is a little wider but still seals fine. It is also a little longer.

I've thought about switching to the Viper filter, but the 3614 is what my mom and sisters car uses, plus we have 3 Neons that we drive. so its just raiser buying a bunch of 3614's.

the only reason you would need more filtration is if you don't take care of your motor like you should.

basically the more area of filtering media that you have means you can trap more particles and still have the ability to flow liquid easily. not to mention the small boost in oil capacity.

u use Bigger filters on bigger engines because they make more carbon and other trash than our smaller engines. Therefore we dont require a larger filter because its not as easy to get them dirty as fast.

maybe i will give it a shot....the oil in my last work car was only changed 1 time in 30,000 miles....but then again it did also burn 3 quarts a week......

worth a shot though since im running low on my chrome oil filters anyways
